Hutto is known for its small-town charm and quality schools. It is a quickly growing Central Texas community that offers a world of opportunity for residents and businesses. It currently has large projects underway such as an extensive park and trail development, State Highway 130 construction, and a variety of other endeavors.
The Hutto community focuses on strong community values and cohesiveness. The residents of Hutto joke that Hutto is the "center of the universe."

 HUTTO LOCATION and FACTS -- Located on US 79 between Round Rock and Taylor, Hutto is only twenty-five miles from the State Capitol in Austin. It is only 10 miles from Round Rock and its high tech industry.

“Moving forward, reaching potential” is the vision of the Hutto Independent School District. With more than 3,000 students, the district currently has four campuses including Hutto Elementary (Grades PK - 5), Johnson Elementary (Grades PK - 5), Hutto Middle School (Grades 6 - 8) and Hutto High School (Grades 9 - 12).

 DO YOU KNOW WHY HUTTO IS THE HIPPO CAPITAL OF TEXAS?
Hutto is the only community in the United States to use the hippo as its mascot. There are several stories explaining how that came to be, with the most popular telling of a circus train that stopped at the depot and allowed a hippo to escape. The people watched the hippo get stuck in the muddy waters. It wasn't long after that the Hutto School adopted the hippo as its mascot. In 2003, the Texas Legislature recognized Hutto as the "Official Hippo Capital of Texas." Check out Hutto Hippo Statues.
